I think we'd all love to see a 6.0 or higher diesel in an F150 but you have to really want it, just for the sake of wanting it because there are a lot of other cost effective options. The weight and modifications needed to support it are going to cost a fortune. Perhaps finding a custom fabricator/body shop to just put F150 body panels on an F250 would be easier.

I heard a rumor that Ford was going to offer a 4.0l deisel next year in a F-150. Supposed to get 300 HP and 350-400 ft. lbs of torque . Maybe a bust after fuel prices and economy have gone so crazy.

I would think you would be looking at replacing the whole front end of the truck as far as the frame, motor mounts and any braces the motor sits on, the whole front suspension, fuel system, heavier duty brakes, and the entire drive train. Not to mention the electronics and computer change. In a nut shell most of the truck besides the body. The weight of that engine on a half ton frame and suspension would be unsafe and you wouldnt beable to keep the same tranny, drive shaft, or rear axle. That money could be put on a new F250 as a huge down payment.

Hope its not a bust cause i would sure want one. And im sure it will weight much less than a 6.0 or 7.3 diesel.

Hell's Bells, there are plenty of diesels out there that can be married to an F150; just be certain that the engine has a mechanical fuel injection pump so that the computer electronics won't get screwed up and confused by the new engine.
For the tranny, if an automatic, go for a Becontrols TCS controller. That gets the tranny off the computer as well.
If the EPA gets in the way and you have to qualify the truck's emission system to get it roadworthy, then you're stuck with a diesel offering from Ford....the V8 diesel based on the T444 SI engine of the eighties would be a good bet. It's not too heavy and should be readily available.
Under any circumstances you are faced with a major change in the truck electronics, but I'm sure plenty of owners have made the change, so just do some serious research.

This may ve simpler but why not just put an F150 body and bumpers onto like an 03 F250 with a 7.3l and upgrade the turbo. It would be alot cheaper than having someone custom fab all the.mounts and brackets the other way.
