Engine Vibrates and Looses Power

Still no answer
Still no answer. Dealer can't diagnose it and there are no codes. Elevated the issue to Ford Corporate and they sent me right back to the dealer. I have three Fords, one Mercedes, two Porsches, and one Ponitiac. This is the only vehicle that the dealer can't diagnose or repair the problem without the computer telling them what the problem is. It is really disappointing. So much for "At Ford, quality is job one".

As disappointed as you are, you know better. Any repair depends on two factors. One is the problem has to happen and to your best friend, the technician. He is the second factor in this senario, he has to feel it, experience it and then he needs the assistance of the on board diognostics. Otherwise he is aimlessly spending your money. Now if this is under warranty, then take it to a different dealer then who sold it. Any warranty money spent by the dealership is charged back to the selling dealer. The system sucks but it keeps the dealers from making false claims to Ford.

I had the same problem with my 01 F150 Screw 5.4. I changed the plugs the first time and it went away. A few months later it does it again. Always seemed to be either #4 or 8 cylinder. Here lately it has not been throwing out codes at all. But it still does. I will be going about 45 and then the shaking starts. I give it gas and it goes away. I hit about 65 and it comes back.
So i changed the plugs again. For about the 5th time.I am an expert at them now. Well this last time it did it. I decide to do few other things. I had a cold air intake system and removed that. IT seemed to run better after i but the stock system back in and cleaned the MAF. But what i notice now is that when i start it in the morning. She will run fine for about 20 minutes and then once she warmes up. It all starts all over again. I have changed plugs numerous times and even got all new boots.
BUt after lots of research and reading. I think i may have figured it out. I am hoping it is the catalytic converter. Everything i have read about them the more i think that is the problem. I have all the symptoms of a bad cat. Gues it is due after 160k miles. Did the test of putting my hand on the exhaust. Just a steady flow of exhaust. Put a digital temp reader on the inlet and outlet to the cat and big differences in temp coming in and temp going out. Shook it and it sounds like crap in there. So that should be the problem. But i am not fixing them as i have sold the truck to a co-worker and they are aware. He is a mechanic. After he changes the cat i will find out. I have decide to step up to an F250.
So check your cat. YOu will know if it is bad.

I also have an 05 f150 it is currently in the shop having the heads redone. I had the same symtoms as yours it would get up to speed then shake like crazy and showing a light. I changed the coil on plugs and the plugs. Came back so i took it to the professionals. They said the reason that it did this is because the valve guides were wore so bad that the valves would stick open.

We can safely guess that for one reason or another it's misfiring. A lot of times the best bet (and cheapest) is to wait until it gets worse, or gets predictable. If it were me I'd just pull plugs and cops and look around, see if anything obvious presented itself.
Like Bill said, you gotta have a Tech in the truck when it happens or throw some codes, or something. Otherwise your throwin your money at them.

Misfire
Well, it's not fixed but it hasn't done the "trick" in months. We don't drive that vehicle everyday but frequently enough. If I ever get it figured out, I'll post what it was.
Thanks

So did y'all ever figure out what it was causing the bogging? I figured out mine. If anyone else has this problem hook a code reader up and see what the fuel system reads. My cheap code reader from walmart read on the live data that my fuel pump drive module would temporarily open causing a lost connection with the fuel pump therefor resulting in my bogging down. I replaced the module yesterday and it fixed it. Mine was one heck of a corroded
