Exclamation Engine swap

in an effort to update my fleet, i have found a 97 f150 with a blown engine. I am curious if the inline six from my 89 custom will fit in without a huge hassle, and without changing the transmission. also, an cost or hours of work estimate would be helpful to decide if the swap is cost effective.

Thank you much

there were three engine options, not just a v6. you can pick up a salvaged low mileage 4.6L or 5.4L for cheap.

I'm surprised that you didn't comment on the last line of the OP. This is one of those "Is this swap worth it and how is it done" threads that you like so much.

BTW- As for the question at hand, the V6's engine bay is too short to accomodate the 4.9L I6.

ive concluded that 99% of the swap threads here are just pipe dreams and thinking via keyboard. and that the "if you have to ask, its to deep" statement while is true for almost everyone who asks, the real answers are things they dont want to hear. Case in point, no, a 400M wont fit in your '08 F150 for any reasonable amount of money and we havent even mentioned the electrical wiring yet....or even the inspection issues and a socket hasnt even touched the truck yet, either.

Just curious but how long is the I6? Water pump pulley to tanny mounting flange. Oh, and how tall it it? Preferably from the center of the crank to the top of the valve cover.
