Default 4.6 vs 5.4 in weight.

Anyone know the weight differnce between the 4.6 and 5.4? friend is looking at turning his 03 ranger into a pre-runner, and was going to drop a 4.6 in it but will go with the 5.4 if the weight differnce isnt too much

I don't know, but I doubt that it can much.
The difference between a 4.6 iron and aluminum block is just 75#.

I might be wrong but my understanding was that the block of the 4.6 and the 5.4 was one in the same. It is just that the 5.4 has a bigger stroke volume per cylinder making the increase in liters and thus more power. Same pistons, just longer stroke of each piston. I could be wrong though but that is what i was told. So the wieght shouldnt be much of a difference at all.

The 5.4's deck hieght is like an 1" higher over the 4.6 giving it that extra stroke.

The weights like 10-15lbs diff. IIRC
