Default Engine has a high pitch whine

Hey Guys, I'm a newbie to the board. I have had my truck for a couple of months now. I bought it used its a 2005 f150 5.4 xlt 4x4. I been reading about this whining noise on other forums as well as this one and figured that the problem was most likely the tensioner or the idler pulley. So i just went to the bearing shop and picked up 3 bearings 40mm x 17mm x 12mm . It was very easy to pop all these bears out and put the new ones in for 20 bucks, took about an hour. The old ones did'nt look like they were in very good shape so i thought for sure that was the problem, but it is still making the same noise. Has anyone figured this one out yet? I turned the alternator pulley when the belt was off and it felt okay. It can happen at start up and at all speeds but more when its cold. Every time its starts to make the noise i have a hose with me in the truck so i can try to locate the problem, but it always stops. Any suggestion would be great.

Default re high pitch whine

Okay thanks for the reply, I will take a look in the tech section. Ya as far as the bearings go there's no reason to pay what they want for new pulleys, just make sure you put the tensioner pulley on the same way or it will touch the engine, and if you don't catch it before you start it there will be damage. Also i put a mid grade bearing in at 5.80 a pop for the price it would'nt hurt to get the best grade they have. regards.
