Transfluid leak. Dealer want to replace the TCM.

Transfluid leak. Dealer want to replace the TCM.
I have a 2010 XLT screw.
I had a trans fluid leak from a busted gasket (this after they changed my fluid out this time last year).
I noticed the leak and took the truck in. I have had no issues with the transmission.
The dealer is recommending replacing the TCM. In the 2010 this is part of the Lead Frame. They quoted me $1200 for the part and $600 for labour.based on the cost I'm assuming they plan on replacing the entire Mechatronic.
That's a pretty steep price for something that was functioning just fine. So Id rather not do it as I believe in 'if it ain't broke don't fix it'.
My questions are
Do these tend to fail after a Trans leak? The trans was running fine without overheating or loosing pressure (no engine warnings).
Are there any benefits to upgrading to the latest unit? I know there have been imporvments and updates made to the controller but not sure if that included the Mechatronic vesrsion I have that was last used in 2010.
Is it possible to upgrade to the lastst version without the TCM in the transmission?
