I agree... back in 03 or 04 when the EPA passed tighter regs that took effect this year everyone said "thats a long time away" as well... now its here.

Ive heard from several people that cummins has a light-weight V6 turbo diesel that they wanted to put into a beefed up Dodge Dakota... wouldnt that be sweet! Trouble was they couldnt find an economical heavy-duty tranny to shoehorn into a Dakota. I dont know if anyone out there gets the "Turbo Diesel Register" but I believe I saw it in there. I think Dodge pretty much killed the project though.

Wouldnt that be sweet if Ford could make a Ranger like that? The F150 diesel would be sweet too. Id buy one in a heartbeat if they did it. Diesel is the way to go for all this emissions BS theyre harping about nowadays. A diesel will only use 75% of the fuel that a gas engine of the same displacement would consume over its lifespan.

The reason Dodge has gone to the 6.7 motor for the 07.5 model, is the 5.9 has run it course to handle emissions. Now, Ford is going to the 6.7, I don't think because of emission requirements, but because the 6.OH OH was a disaster! Hope the 6.7 isn't a mirror of the 6.Oh Oh.. Sad thing about diesel now, is primarily it's popularity, NOT supply and demand as they want you to think! It only costs pennies more to remove the sulphur from this fuel and from now on will cost more than premium gas, when it used to be cheaper than regular!! Diesel fuel is the cheapest to refine and most profitable at the pump. It has the highest return profit/value at the pump!!

The 6.7 motors are a lot burlier than the 5.9's though... that might be some of the reason for the change. My dad has a new 07 Dodge 1 ton dually with a turbocharged 6.7 and he said that it has the acceleration, torque, and horsepower of a sportscar when compared to his 99 Dodge 1 ton with the 5.9. They tweeked the rear end too... im not sure what the ratio is but I know that his 99 was really hummin at 70 mph! The 07's also have a dual mass flywheel (when you opt for the 5-spd manual) and an optional factory exhaust brake (that is stupendous by the way... and its only a $300 option) and a few other handy things. If I could, I'd trade my dad my new F150 for his Dodge 1 ton!! But the F150 suits my needs......right now

My dad had a an 02 F250 and that thing was pretty nice but when you add the superchip, not the best but it did the job, to it it really would put a smile on your face. Once i get older i plan to buy and F250 and put some major performance mods and really kick some ***** I love those trucks
