Diesel F150

I didnt see any RECENT threads on the supposed diesel F150 coming out, which seems like more and more of a reality now that sites like Car & Driver are reporting on it. From what I have gathered its based on the 3.0 Lion diesel in the Range Rover; 254 hp/443 ft-lbs. What are everyone's thoughts?

Personally, I really think it comes down to how well they implement it. I have driven the EcoDiesel ram and it was just ok in my eyes. Not worth the loss of performance compared to an engine like the ecoboost to gain a few MPG's. Now that Ford has the 10 speed on the 2017, those numbers are even closer. If they put that 10 speed behind the 2.7L Ecoboost I bet the MPG #'s will be damn close to the ecodiesel ram without having to sacrifice the performance.

If Ford doesnt beat the Ram by a good margin in power and MPG's I just dont see them selling too many except for those people who blindly believe diesel is the only way to go.

I'd love to see Ford produce a successful F150 diesel, but this has been talked up for so many years with no results that at this point I'll believe it when I see it. As it is, the price of a 150 is so close to a diesel Superduty that I personally doubt Ford is going to persue it. I can't see the 150's towing or hauling figures going up much more, regardless of powertrain. The chassis is basically at capacity, in my opinion.

Well I haven't seen it but I'm told they did it. Detroit Auto Show Ford showed the coming F-150 diesel to hit show rooms summer of 18.

I tow daily but not super heavy & fuel efficiency when towing is key for me so I'm interested. As are I'm sure many who own an F-150 for towing a moderate sized Travel trailer. Should be a good addition to strengthen the line up. Thoughts?

You should’ve stayed with Nissan.

seems like it solved a problem that didn't exist. Hence why it was cancelled.
