thanks for the info! i'm not really going to be after hp or even torque. i want to do something different; although, it's been done before. and i know the 4bt will be able to handle it.

Yes it is, however its not as heavy of a block. Im trying to find the webpage that i saw the weight of a 4.6L on. It was right under 200lbs (iron block and heads). The numbers i saw on the 4.6L as far as weight goes may not be exactly accurate but a diesel block is alot heavier than a gas block even if it has less cylinders.
Example, a 6BT has 6 cylinders and weights around 1000 lbs., no gas V8 with two more cylinders matches that weight at all.

The ft lbs are NOT what you are after, ever, in any given situation coming from an engine.
Horsepower.
A 4bt is really the way to go with these trucks. The size and the weight of the 6bt will be hard to fit into the small-ish bay these trucks allow. You'll get used to doing ball joints though.
With a decent little twin setup, a 4bt will pump out 500+ horsepower all day long. I would also go with a 47re behind it, they can be built to handle the power, assuming you can get that to fit as well.

Example, if horsepower numbers were for towing, a corvette would out pull a 3/4 ton diesel pickup anyday. But it wont, thats why the 3/4 ton diesel truck has less hp but has alot of torque.
Also, if you have a 4BT putting out 500 hp, it has been tuned and moded to the max, because that is far from its stock hp rating.
