Blown Head Gasket...What Cam???
ok to start off i blew a head gasket on my truck.so ive got to tear the motor down.im thinking of changing the cam while im in it.what is the stock specs for the cam.Ive got a 98 expedition with the 5.4 triton.idk if its a 3v or not i dont know about the year diffrents on the motors.but im just looking for a little cam not something to big that i need to upgrade more of the motor.just lookin for a little more loaping sound.also what would you recommend to change while ive got it tore apart.i think im going to go ahead and change the timing belt and gears also.would aftermarket timing gears make a big difference?are they worth it.thanks for any help and any suggestions on what to do while ive got the motor apart.i just see it as while im in there might as well do a little work to it.

FYI any 2 valve head weather it be Pi or nonPi, Romeo or Windsor build will bolt up to your block. Pi heads from the Mustang are Romeo heads so you will need Romeo valve covers. Any 2 valve cam set that you choose will fit in the Mustang head. Thankfully the cams for the Mustang have bolt on gears just like all the after market cams. The Windsor heads have press on cam gears and you would need to purchase a set of cam gears for a cam swap to work on your 5.4. If you do go for a Pi head swap you will need a Pi intake manifold. A 199 model year is preferred as it is metal and not plastic.
