Default 4BT 6BT or F250

Wondering what your guys thoughts were on an f150 diesel with either 4bt or 6bt or if i should stay loyal to the blue oval motors and get a 6.0L F250. Thoughts?

if the Cummin's swap is possible go for it. The 4bt is nice and small but finding one is tricky and the power won't be near that of say a 12 valve 6bt with some mods. The 6bt would be sweet. Stay away from any 6.0L Powerstroke. I doubt a 7.3 would fit without some major mods and a 6.4 is probably too new. Keep in mind the weight. If possible go Cummins. A Triton V10 swap could be interesting too.

If I was going to put a diesel in, I'd go for the 5.9. 6.4 would be so expensive and you'd have to deal with emissions controls.

I'm going to look into this when I pay my pickup off. It's pretty much my dream..

oh yeah that whole exhaust gas recirculation business is crap. Honestly if you are going to put this much effort and money in it why not just get a Cummins truck or a 7.3 Superduty? The 6bt swap would be great but getting it to that point could be a nightmare.

it would be sweet. I've driven one and it's got some gitty up for a truck as old as it was. People question why have an engine in between the 5.4/6.2 V8 and the Powerstroke but they don't know that it's only like a 6-800 dollar option as opposed to the 7000 dollar option for the PSD. It would be a very neat swap. Good luck

I dont think the 4BT would be strong enough in the truck. That motor would be great for a jeep but i wouldnt put it in a truck. Go for the 6BT. Are you getting a rebuilt 6BT or are you just pulling one from a wrecked truck?
