Default 4.6 vs 5.4? You Have No Idea!

I am posting this to help educate the uneducated. I own an 05 f150 Scab that currently runs 0-60 mph in 6.4 seconds, consistently, using a Pro-Comp to record all times. Although I think the 5.4 is a good engine people do not know what a 4.6 is capable of. I get tired of hearing people that don't own one give their opinion. Although the engine is only a 4.6 it has plenty of power and than some if it is built properly. The reason I chose my set up rather than the Roush offered by the dealer is that they only go 0-60 mph in 6.8 seconds. I wanted more. Our next few mods and tune will place us hovering in the high 5 second range. Mind you this does come at a price, approximately $6,000-$8,000 on engine and rear modifications alone, including a NOS system. But knowing that only Lightnings and SRT-10 can smoke me is satisfaction enough because I have a back seat and can still tow my boat.

I dont think anyone really dogs the 4.6, it is a solid motor. Its just a little small for a truck. There is no denying you can make one fast, just look at the mustang guys. My last 4.6 made 440 rwhp, with ice cold A/C a rockin sound system and I could drive in anywhere.
A 5.4 is really just a stroked 4.6 anyway.

I agree. I just want the 4.6 guys out there to know that they can get alot of power from one w/out swapping out. The 4.6 3v is a very good engine. Trust me we have put it through it's paces w/out so much of a hic-cup!
Everything we throw on it and it still runs like new. And suprisingly the stock computer with a little custom tuning has performed beyond expectations. Also I don't want anyone to think that I'm bashing the 5.4 I love all Ford Trucks even the v6's.

I don't own either of the 3v motors but I do have the first design 4.6 ('97) and also and 02 F-150 Super Crew with a 5.4 and I love both of them. I haven't pulled anything with the 5.4 yet but the little 4.6 is one hell of a good motor. 220k on it and it still runs like a dream. My brother has a 3v 5.4 and he loves it so I assume there a damn good motor also. The 4.6 must be the same way. True there are some flaws in the design but there's always a flaw in everything.

Im glad u have had good results, but your own information proves one already very well known fact....ANYTHING CAN BE FAST IF YOU PUT ENOUGH MONEY INTO IT!

now think about this....with the money u have put into your truck to make it that fast + what you bought the truck for, u could have bought a lightning and been faster....

Now what would be the results if u put that much money into a 5.4? My bet would be even better results. They are both good motors but you act like the 4.6 is some sort of good kept secret that blows the 5.4 out of the water....not the case
