Default 4.6 2-valve to 4.6 3-valve

Wouldn't it simply be a head change and nothing more (other than tuning)?

You would have to eliminate the cam phaser.

Ummm, wouldn't you need a 24-lobe cam vs a 16-lobe? Or is there some other magic involved?

So, H/C swap. Not so bad if I do the labor. Maybe a good opportunity to go more aggressive on the cam, but, I seriously hate to void the warranty ... especially since I'll be picking up the truck on Tuesday and it's a new 2010.

Thinking now about just doing an engine swap and sell my 4.6 2-valve to make up some difference in the cost. A motor can't cost much and no changes to the wiring harness or ECM (except for tuning) ... gotta' get past this crossroad.

Of the options below, the cost will end uop being about the same. Which route would you go?

1. Do the H/C swap.
2. Do a motor swap and sell the current new motor.
3. Leave the motor alone and just do intake, true duals, and hi-flo cats with tuning?

You bought a brand new 2010 F150? And your wanting to upgrade the engine....... Why not just get a 5.4? Your already spending a ton of a brand new truck, just opt for the 5.4.

Seems like to much work.

Two reasons: 1) I have a limit of $26,000 I can finance with the 4.3% pre-approved loan I have obtained, so, anything more is not an option for me; 2) It's a regular cab and I can't get a 5.4 in a regular cab shortbed SLT ... can't even order one with a 5.4.

I wish I could get the 5.4l .... would sure make things easier. So, back to the original question ... which option below would you choose? All (below) would be about the same cost in the long run.

1. Do the H/C swap.
2. Do a motor swap and sell the current new motor.
3. Leave the motor alone and just do intake, true duals, and hi-flo cats with tuning?

not to be a dick, but if your spending that much on the truck, and your considering a motor swap, or a head swap...your prob not going to have the fiscal ability to do it and enjoy the truck, its not a hard thing to do, mustang guys do it, the 4v swap is the best imo, but whatever, anywho dont do anything, order the 5.4 and be happy, if you dont get the 5.4 your going to regret it.....

yesa i agree thats pretty silly, why not get a used 04-08 with the 5.4 and supercharge it, i just dont see you getting the best bang for your buck by trying an engine swap on a brand new truck, you could build a really solid truck for less money then that one brand new if you shop around

Settle for a used 04-08 with the 5.4 and you'll be happy. You'll regret not getting the 5.4.
