33s with 3.31 gears
What's up guys? New member but I've searched through these forums many a times. I have a 2010 F150 lariat with 22 inch ford rims. I also have 3.31 differential gears and 104k miles on the 5.4. I'm currently running 275/45/22 or 31.7 inch alenzas, which are total junk. I bought the rancho quicklift before I realized how tall my gears were. I would have liked to go with 34s but I don't think it's a good idea with these gears.
So my question to you guys is ***do you think I could get away with running 305/45/22 hankook dynapros? They're 32.8 inches in diameter with my 3.31 gears?
I realize this would bring my true gears down to about 3.21 and result in a loss of power, but how much? It's somewhat hard to do research because no one seems to have these gears with the 5.4. I barely tow and off-road very lightly (only at the job site). I have considered regearing but it seems like a bit of a waste if I'm only regearing for an inch of bigger tires.
So, long story short, can I bump my tires up from 32s to 33s and keep my 3.31 gears? Any advice is appreciated but it would be nice to hear from someone versed in transmissions/drivetrains or has 3.31s
Thanks,
Steve

I have 3:31 gears and 32" tires but I also have it tuned via SCTx4 and MPT custom tunes. Every time I tap the gas it wants to jump out of it's sheet metal. Makes me smile every time I turn the key.
EDIT: With a 4x4 you are going to have to re-gear both differentials not just one, suggest you get a tuner as it will be the easiest and most cost effective solution.

This was my 2001 before letting it go this year. It has a 5.4L with 35s behind 3.55s.
It's a truck and it drove like a truck. Throttle response was fine and when I needed to scoot, I mashed the peddle and it moved.
What's more concerning is you braking response--it may take more peddle effort to make a quick stop. You'll notice a difference for sure--I know I did when I first put the lift and tires on.
If you want a hot rod--buy one. Otherwise you'll be fine.
