Have had it just over a year and there's 19,000 on the odometer. Zero problems to date. So far, this is the best all around truck I have ever owned!

That's good to hear. Do you guys get the same Summer thunderstorms everyday like we get in south and central Florida?

Humidity here in the Panhandle is pretty much 80% plus year round. We get a considerable amount of rain year round. June through September are definitely Dog-Days with high heat and humidity non-stop.

Not long after I got my truck, I drove to Lynchberg, Va. non-stop in the rain about 90% of the way up and back. Zero issues!

A bigger problem with these engines is the water pump. Most haven't reached the 100k threshold yet but when you do you enter water pump failure territory. In a regular engine not a big deal, in the Duratecs it is buried inside the engine and when it goes it flood your crankcase with coolant. Coolant and oil on your crankcase in these engines= major engine damage. I spun a bearing about 500 miles after water pump replacement at 109k miles.

The tow trucks have been hauling lot's of F150s with the Eco engines due to the starters freezing up. I know of 3 around here that have had starters replaced. Ford told the owners the starters are near the exhaust plumbing and get some condensation in them and they freeze and will fry the starters.

They were all under warranty and got new starters and they say the new starters sound more powerful for some reason...not sure if this is common..

Just drove both of them the other day to see which one I liked better. The ecoboost for me, pulls a lot stronger and accelerates faster. The 5.0 is great too though, still better than Chevys new 5.3. The 5.0 had some of the v8 rumble when I hammered on, but I think you need a after market exhaust to get the full affect.

I've now driven both a few times, I won't buy anything without the Ecoboost. It's a beast! and a quiet beast at that, lol, my wife really appreciates how quiet it is.

Hope to have mine by the end of the week

Im looking to purchase a new truck later this summer and still havent made up my mind on which engine Im getting. For me I do tow a 3,000lb boat and its usually the vehicle of choice when going places with family. That being said I do worry about the longevity of the ecoboost . I would like to think this next truck like the one I have now will last 10 to 12 years before needing replaced and the eco technology doesnt make me fee lwarm and fuzzy in the long run. Any insight on this would be appreciated.

The 5.0 will be more than you need for 3000lbs. The 3.7 V6 will get the job done as well. Do not buy the EB to save fuel. There is no difference in fuel economy between the 5.0 and the EB in real world everyday driving. The 5.0 will cost less than the EB on the initial purchase as well.
