2012 5.0 Engine Knock...NORMAL?????
#71
I think the more we get people on the boards and forums with this issue the more Ford can't deny they haven't heard of it.every customer service rep I've talked to has denied any knowledge of bad blocks or timing chain problems or knocks.kind of hard to believe when all you have to do is Google it. Mine is still at the dealership getting worked on. I'll call tomorrow to see if they pinpointed my issue

Has nothing to do with that TSB. If an engine is making that noise they need to shutdown each cylinder to find the bad one. Its a bad bore that's making the noise. ford will NOT put a TSB out to replace engine...which is what needs to be done. Otherwise they will do EVERYTHING they can to get you and your truck out the door until the warranty expires OR you give up.

2012 f150 5.0 engine knock with 21000 miles
I am really losing confidence with ford and my dealership over this engine noise. I contacted my ford dealership about this same issue last summer. They explained me that it is normal. When they had my truck in the shop, they really did not do anything. They do hear the noise but say its normal. I contacted a ford rep. She explained to that she can't help because the dealership says it is normal characteristic of the truck. At least that's what my dealership told them. The dealership compared my truck with another 2012 f150 on the lot that had more miles it than mine. It was even louder than mine they said. Maybe because it has the same problem! The service manager said not to worry about it because I have plenty of warranty left. I have been back to the dealership several times for other issues and they keep telling me the same thing about the engine noise. I have been trying to call my for ford rep but she never answers anymore. I leave her voicemails but she never returns my call. I guess she is hoping I will go away. I guess the tactic his worked so far. It is senseless leave people voicemails if they don't call you back. If i call ford customer service hotline to explain to them that my ford rep has not been returning my calls, they send me back to the same rep that doesn't answer her calls. I don't know what to do. I requested a ford engineer to come to my dealership last summer to check on the engine noise themself, but ford won't send one because of what the ford dealership explained to them. It is a completely vicious loop with nothing getting accomplished. I am hoping someone out there in the Ford motor company could help. So far I have not seen it yet. I am glad to see that someone's dealerships are fixing their issues, just unfortunate mine won't. Any helpful suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Just stay persistent. Take it to a different dealer. I know all this is a pain in the ***, but it seriously is a tactic on Fords part. You need to issue/send an official certified notice of repair or replace to Ford. If you'd like a copy of what i sent, id be more than happy to send it to you. You also need to document everything!! Along with calling, send an email. I actually prefer to communicate via email. Cc everyone- ford rep, dealer etc. The important part here is that you document what they're NOT doing. Also take it to a a reputable independent shop and see if thy can provide a diagnosis-basically stating if something is wrong or not. This is starting the buy back process.
