Default Final (hopefully) Update

The dealership called me last week that my truck was done and I picked it up Thursday. Replaced the short block on my new long block and it sounds great now after about 350 miles. The truck sat at the dealership just over 6 months while the dealership went back and forth with Ford about what they were going to do as well as waiting on backordered parts.
So far I've been getting mid 16s as far as highway mileage goes so hopefuloy that improves.
Does anyone have any suggestions on when to do the first oil change with a replacement motor? The dealership put a sticker in the window with the normal 5000 interval.

Well, a little update, or lack there of. My truck is STILL at the dealership, no answer as to whether or not they will be replacing my engine (AGAIN), he says Ford has asked him to do a cylinder drop test to isolate which cylinder has the knocking issue because there is no physical damage to the naked eye. As of now my truck has been at the shop for almost 2 months with them trying to get Ford to replace the replacement engine they put in. Very frustrating!!!! As of now, I think I am stretching to 10 months total my truck has been in and out of the shop for the knocking issues between the original engine and the replacement engine. Who knows how much longer it will be in there if Ford ever approves a replacement engine, especially if they're still on backorder.

I am now going to contact Ford customer care to see if I can help push this along, but I doubt they will be of much help, it is worth a shot though.

Wow...what the hell? 10 months? That's absolutely unacceptable. I can see why Ford likes to call this problem normal for vehicles still under lemon law jurisdiction. Since May, I've only put 2500 miles on my truck and in that time the knock has not only gotten worse, but my 4WD is acting up now, steering doesn't track straight, and my transmission occasionally slips out of gear. That's on top of the 3 new recalls (on top of the 3 already done) that have to be fixed not to mention the other smaller gripes I have. Ford has done nothing for us. My lawyer hasn't helped me any either (looking at switching to a new one). Will absolutely be my last Ford vehicle...this is by far the worst experience I've ever had with a company. I've been a loyal Ford customer only to be sh** on and disrespected. Well...no more. When it's settled, one way or another, I'll be looking at Toyota and GMC.

Keep us updated on when the engine gets fixed.

Yeah, it is a bummer. However, I guess I cannot complain too much, they're working to help me, I just cant believe it is taking this long. I hate my dealership is caught in the middle of it and has to provide me a loaner this whole time as well.

Well, magically the day after contacting Ford Customer Service a FSE showed up at my dealer to look at my truck. His opinion is that they need to replace the passenger side head, how in the world he got a diagnosis of a head issue from a bottom end noise, I have no idea, but I PRAY that by some miracle it is some how harmonically transferring the noise to the bottom end of the engine, but I doubt it. So now I wait until they receive the head in, get it on and test. My guess is the noise will still be present and we will have delayed the inevitable again and start down the path of ordering a new engine. However, I hope that is not the case.

Ok, so, I need to eat my words, the new head FIXED my knock. My truck now sounds great, just like the day I bought it. FINALLY, it seems my 9 month ordeal has come to an end.The dealer put an all new head, cam, phasers, VCT solenoids and everything on my truck and it somehow fixed the nasty knock I had. How in the world the head had anything to do with that sounded like a bottom end knock, I do not know, but they said there was zero evidence of damage, after they scoped the cylinders, inspected the top end/cams/ caps, etc. All the FSE could seem to find is that the noise seemed loudest on the top side of the engine when using a stethoscope and before ordering a new engine he wanted to put a head on, and he was right. The tech and my advisor both admitted it was the last thing they would have thought caused my noise, but I am praying I am done with this, for now at least.
