Wow, with a 1st gear ratio of 2.4 and an str of 1.9, you only had a 4.56 torque multiplier off the line. The new 6r80 has a 1st gear of 4.17 and at a 2.3 the multiplier is 9.59. I would say that's an improvement, but some might point out the immense complexity, new different scary, and completely unreliable aspects of 6 gears plus extra heat generated by the higher str...wait what was I saying? Oh yea that I really like the off-the-line response of the truck, especially with 570 ftlb on tap.

I have a better solution to Skinner's "challenge". Tie a string to it, give it to the people left on the other side so they can pull it back for the next 2 people to take across, then pulled back again. Then again, how in the world do you know you have exactly 15 minutes? Maybe you only have 5 or maybe you have 25. Or person 1 can just carry the people across since it only takes him 2 minutes round trip.

Here is my reasons for buying the Ecoboost. #1 To pull my boat during the summer there was NO reason for me to purchase a F250 Diesel to pull my boat less than dozens times a year. #2 I spend winter at 10,000ft so a turbo gets better mpg and more power, plus pulling two sleds almost killed my V8.
This is my Happy Place during the summer to get away from people like Skinner who know nothing, yet act like they do.
This is my other reason, I love to ski in the mountains of Colorado all winter and visit my Wifes family.
#3 I get way better MPG driving between Florida and Colorado than any V8. So what if I spent more $$$ ($750 more in 2011 over the 5.0L) for my Ecoboost. I love that engine, and it was a clear choice. I didn't get suckered into anything. If $750 is getting suckered then maybe you should not be buying a $40k+ truck to begin with. Skinner has nothing to say about any of my posts because he knows I'm right.
So to anybody reading this Eco V's 5.0L Sorry about some members BS. Buy what fits your lifestyle, and don't be scared of technology. Lets face it, engines are only going to get more complicated as companies try to get top MPG's to meet the CAF restrictions. Just make sure you buy a Ford. """Built Without YOUR Tax Dollars""""
