2002 F150 no reverse or drive
2002 F150 with a 5.4 Auto trans and electric 4wd.
I drove it about a week and a half ago and it drove just fine. Went to move it a couple days ago and it won't engage any gears. The shifter moves fine and I've verified that the linkage moves on the trans when moving the shifter on the column. However it still won't engage any gears. It just free revs as if you were in neutral.
Like I said last time I drove it, it drove fine. Wasn't beating on it or anything. I was using the 4wd but I didn't have any problem with it. Still engages and disengages fine that I can tell.

how is the fluid level?
its common for the transfer case seal to fail and transmission fluid gets pumped into the transfer case. check the transmission fluid level and check the transfer case fluid level.
If you remove the FILL plug on the transfer case and fluid comes out, its over filled.

This does seem to be a fluid issue. Fluid level doesn't change with the truck running or the truck off. So either the shaft for the pump broke, the pump failed, the filter is holy hell plugged, or the filter fell off and the pump can't suck any fluid. Probably a broken shaft. Won't know until I drop the pan.

Just thought I'd update this since I got it figured out. The trans cooler in the radiator was leaking and coolant mixed with the trans fluid. The fluid was never milky so I couldn't tell. But there was coolant in the trans and it froze up when it got cold out.
Once it got warm out the truck moved fine. A couple days after driving it started slipping and that's when I found the fluid milky. Flushed the trans several times, changed the filter and radiator and everything seems to be okay.
