no offense, but if you dont know what PTV is, you shouldnt be building an engine. PTV is Piston To Valve clearance/contact.

a 4R70W can be build to withstand about 450hp using OEM components.

well the whole engine rebuild would be done in about around a year or so and at the same time I am going to rebuild the transmission and do what to it I am not sure what to really do to a tranny outside of better quality stuff

and on wandering what ptv is( i am not that good at abbreviations of certain terms.) and if I myself am going to rebuild the engine well i am not going at it alone or maybe I will alot can change in a year but most likly I will have a friend of mine help me that I lent some tools and a hand in rebuilding his camaro engine

also why does puting supercharger and towing in the same sentence make you cringe.

When its related to a stock tranny it does, just seems like a problem prone idea. But, since you would upgrade it you should be fine.

if you want to build a modular shortblock properly, have someone do it. Its not some small block chevy.

For a properly built 4R70W, you can do it two way....either use the build sheet I can provide you with or have someone build one who specializes in them. www.bc-automotive.com

please correct me if I am wrong but from everything that I have read the 4R70W tranny is automatic, mine is manual, that model is just the way the gears are set then whoops I missread something somewhere.

also I am sure the answer is yes but does the engine need to be retimed if I am to pull the heads off of the engine to get worked on and also if I am to pull the heads off should I just wait till I can buy an after market cam (comp camp 4X4 cam) to pull them off and get worked on.

duh, never mind on the transmission.

A few rules about cams. You must retime and check the engine for PTV if you pull the heads. Also, your valvesprings will have to be changed if you use an aftermarket cam. You will need a Ford spec OTC valvespring compressor, a generic CANNOT be used. I am not a fan of Comp cams, I had 262AH cams on my PI motor and the keyway on the barrel failed after 700 miles, ripping the key off the gear and destroying the motor. I would go with Crane or Crower. Modulardepot.com has a really good cam/spring write up.
