Default P0196 oil temp sensor code

After having my F150 for about 2 weeks, I got a P0196 oil temp sensor code. I found out there's a sensor on the oil pan, or so I thought. When I went to check on the sensor, I found out that the sensor, and wire were swinging in space, and there was no place in the oil pan for a sensor. I probably would have noticed this earlier if it weren't for the skid pan on the FX4. Upon checking the sticker on the valve cover, I discovered that the motor was a 2008 5.4. Everything works great, and I love the truck, except that once or twice a month I get the P0196 code, and I have to reset it. My question is , is there a way to fool the sensor into thinking that everything is OK. Or can I maybe just unplug the sensor, and keep the code off. the truck runs fine with the light on, just bugs me to see it.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Steve

techrep.
The reason I posted here is because I had not received any replies at the time on my other posting in the 2004-2008 F150 forum, which is a general discussion group.
As this is an engine-drivetrain forum, and there is a 5.4 section, I thought well maybe someone on this forum who might not have read my general forum post, might have a suggestion, as to an idea I might try.
As they are 2 different forums, I didn't consider it a double post.
But everyone is entitled to their opinion.
Sorry ,I didn't mean to confuse you.
Gotta admit I'm envious. That is one beautiful truck you have.

I think you'll get the same answer here: Whoever swapped that new engine into your truck didn't take the time to swap the oil pan so that sensor could be plugged in. If you want to plug it in, get an old pan with the hole in it and do the swap.

Or pick up a bluetooth OBD scanner for your smartphone and clear the code when it pops up.
