Oil Pressure problem, rattle noise
Hi all,
new to this forum,because I bought today my first F-150, 2007 with a 5.4l, knowing there is a problem with the engine (194,000 km)
Need a little bit help here.
That is the story: Previous owner drove and lost suddenly the oil pressure and power,the guys in the shop told him, the oil pump is shot.
I started today the truck, oil pressure was there and I heard a rattling noise from the front of the left bank, and I think there was a cylinder missing, because it did run rough.
I did shut it off.
My thoughts are going to the tensioners,not the oil pump.
Any thoughts?? Any help is welcome.......

What does it matter which bank.. OP you need to pull valve cover and inspect. sounds like a timing job in your future.

Just curious, because for the bigger picture it can matter.
It seems to me that on the older 2v engines the passenger side makes the "ticking" noise first and the passenger side guides are is worse condition.
It also seems there are more spark plug blow outs on the passenger side.
The passenger side has the hottest engine coolant going to the radiator, the heater core lines run down that side, there is more stuff blocking air flow down that side and the cool air intake line runs down the driver's side.
The passenger side of the engine runs a bit hotter in my cars.
