Default 5.4 idle overheating.

I suspect the fan clutch as the fan isn't engaging when truck gets hot. It overheats at idle only, and much quicker with AC on. AC will blow hot air eventually. I don't see any dripping from water pump. Fan will turn by hand when truck is off but not free spin which I hear is ok... the truck will shudder like the fan wants to kick on to high gear when over heating but it's not doing it... I'm at wits end on searching and what to try next!! Any tips appreciated!!

165k on truck about 7k on swapped over engine as the old one blew due to cam fallure. Mechanic swapped all cononsents to this "new" used engine... fluid new and that's about it... fan seems to turn but almost too slow it seems.

This started last week, we had the serpentine belt keep sliding off the ps pump and found that bolts had back out of that pump. We didn't over heat it during all that but that's when it started.

Another side note is that I can see the water temp rising to 220-240* (ODB Fusion app) before the dash gauge shows it getting hot... seems like once the intake air temp rises without the truck moving, the water temp moves up too. Lol
