Default 5.4 to 6.2 swap

I have been thinking in swapping my truck's 5.4 engine for a 6.2 engine. The thing here is that i do not know if the 6.2 will fit into the original transmission. Besides that, i would also like to know what cable, Computers i will need to change.

they didnt change the trans bolt pattern or the mount locations. Thats the easy part. Getting everything to work is another story.

You're for sure going to need a PCM out of a 6.2 truck, unless you can find someone to reflash your existing PCM.

It depends on what year of truck your putting in. probably closer to when they came out would be easier. Getting a totaled truch to use as a starting point would make the whole deal much easier. But it is possible all the way back to 97

That's a good point jethat. OP, what year of truck are you thinking of doing this in? I thought about doing it in my '07, which would be WAY more complicated than in an 09.

You realize of course that it is illegal unless the engine is the same model year or newer under EPA emissions certifications. And all the exhaust and emissions also must be included.

legal is legal from federal standpoint. But only applies to on road use. For off road or racing you can dowhatever.
Chances of getting caught...is what you refer too.

If you ever want to sell it, or trade it, you open yourself up to liability by illegally modifying.
