95 F150 mis fires(?) Cuts out at OD
Hi all,
I'm sure this issue has come up but I can't find the threads with a resolution in it. I hope you can help.
Truck went from running perfectly to engine dying while driving. I was advised to check the pick up cpoil, the TFI and the ignition switch. All parts have been replaced. Mechanic at the shop also said it needed a CPU and replaced it with a used one. I thought all the issues were resolved and brought it home without test driving it at highway speed. The engine runs smooth in town and below 50mph, but struggles and acts like it wants to die when hitting overdrive. I'm not getting any check engine light.
The fuel filter has been changed, as well as plugs, wires, cap and rotor in addition to the above noted parts. Fuel pressure is good. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? I even broke down and took it to a Ford dealer and wasted my money for a diagnosis that didn't help. ( They recommended new, plugs, wires for a mere cost of $580). Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Kathy.
