Default Bolts / Dimensions on Idler Pulleys?

Does anybody know what bit is used to remove the idler pulleys on a 4.2L? I can't find the information in my Haynes manual. It is a hex or a Torx or a Torx Plus? What size?

Also, I'm trying to buy replacement pulleys for my 8-point drive system. The upper pulley is smooth, and the lower pulley is grooved. But looking at parts sites, there are multiple sizes of of each, as listed below

Smooth (Outer Diameter * Height)
  • 90 mm * 27 mm, SKP SK89018
  • 90 mm * 30 mm, ACDelco 38001, Continental 49001, Dayco 89006, Gates 38001, Litens 900052A, SKP SK89006
  • 90 mm * 39.5 mm, Dayco 89048

Grooved (Outer Diameter / Inner Diameter * Height)
  • 82 / 76.5 mm * 27.5 mm, SKP SK89009
  • 90 / ??? * 28 mm, ACDelco 36327, Continental 50003, Dayco 89012, Gates 36327, Litens 900517A
  • 97 / 89 mm * 26.5 mm, SKP SK89012

Furthermore, I see that both the ACDelco 38001 & Gates 38011 have a note saying "Not Compatible with OE Bolt & Spacer" ... what does that mean? I'd prefer to use all Gates pulleys, does anybody know what specific bolt & spacer I'd need to buy to replace the OE bolt & spacer?

Post in the 97-03 subforum? Much more traffic there. Besides, the pulleys may be the same between all the 10G truck engines as far as what you are asking about…

I would totally be on this if I have driven my ‘03 to work today 🫣
