Default 4.2 Transplant

I have a 1997 F150 XLT 4.2 with manual transmission. the engine was smoking extremely bad and burning through oil. I have a replacement engine out of a 2000 F150 4.2 with automatic transmission, but the wiring harnesses are a bit different. any information regarding tips/tricks, termination diagrams for the harness or anyone with knowledge with this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi, this winter I replaced the engine in my 03. the 4.2l coughed its cookies. My truck is also a manual trans. The engine I bought was from a donor truck, also 03 but 2wd auto. For my engine swap, the engine harness was the same but it had some of the trans harness for the auto trans attached. As I had same year, I had no issues with plugs not hthe same or anything like that luckily. I'm sure by now you have gotten this going? If not I'd recommend swapping the 97 harness and anything needed from the dead engine to keep it 1997 stock as there may have been some sensor or harness changes between 97 and 2000. I've owned and repaired a lot of Fords, 1 thing I can say, they never disappoint when it comes to making swap overs hard. I think they change things every 3 months just to see if we notice! Hope you are all done and running but if not, good luck!
