Thanks,
About the only thing new you might need is an ECU and PCM but I can't be 100% positive on that

I dont know about the V6s but you have you be careful when swapping different years V8 engines. For changed cam specifications so much you can have issues with cam sensor and PCM compaibility if your years are wrong. If you ask Ford they say you must get the exact engine from you exact years to assure ciompatability. Unless you want to do some major swapping of parts, even possibly heads.

I asked about the same transplant for my 06 4.2 and found out you would need a whole complete vehicle as a ecodonor because there would be a long list of things that would have to go with the engine, ie. innercooler, trans, pcm, wiring harness, and a master mechanic to machine custom brackets, exhaust, driveshaft and make the wiring harness and pcm happy in new(LOL OLD) body. dieseltech is a member of the forum and a paid mechanic by occupation. dieseltech lays claim that he was paid to do this very swap in the shop that employs him. the swap was done to an overweight welding rig that travels the Alaskan pipeline and the owner is thrilled with the ecoboost and reaping the benefits. now on the real side... he said it was a beast to get the job done and after 2 weeks in the shop it cost over $8000.00 in labor. so all in all if you could get job done in a shop by some one else for $15,000.00 to $20,000.00 total parts and labor, turn key. since the cheapest used eco is about $28,000.00 it could be cheaper to do the swap vs. the used 2012 eco but there is no warranty. having said all that i would still like to do this swap in a couple of years instead of building my 4.2 and by then donors will be cheaper and more available.

Hi Guys: We may love our Fords but ford doesn't love us,they love our money! Ford is in business to sell new autos & trucks they don't give advice on things like this. I paid good money for my truck back in 96 and the body is still nice. I understand that the ECOboost
maybe over the top but how about an 2008 v6 swap in my 97? Do I need the trans and other parts. I have two friends who did motor jobs on the v8 one guy has a big shop and lifted the body off the other did the motor job on the street. How about a body swap? As there are a lot of trucks in the junk yard that could be used as a donors. Thanks.

I doubt the bolt pattern for the transmission will mate up from the 4.2 to the 3.5 eco.

Alternative routes could be
1) Super coupe 3.8 (the 4.2 is just a punched and somewhat stroked 3.8) New fuel pump and a computer would be needed.
2) 5.0/5.8 change. New motor mounts and wiring would be needed. But same bolt pattern for the bell on the 3.8/4.2
3) Mustang 3.8, maybe just need a computer.
