When's the RIGHT time to change oil for you?

Hey guys sorry haven't been on. Email and password issues. Anyway, my oil life is down to 25% and I'm pretty fanatic about oil changes and oil life. When do you change oil on these EB's? This 2011 is new to me. Have 5500 miles of my own now ( 26000 altogether ) I will not wait until 15% pretty sure. Lemme know.

Thanks and God Bless.

I do every 3k but I'm anal about my truck and I get oil and filters for so cheap the cost isn't a factor.

Thanks Z7. I'm kinda anal too. Just trying to get a grip on the way Ecoboosters do it. I'm gonna go today to get it done at a friends garage then I will once again start doing it on my own and keeping receipts for the warranty.

God Bless.

The truck has a Intelligent Oil Life Monitoring System. Why would you choose not to use it?

Hopefully not because someone said every 3K miles is better.

I let it go down to 21% so I did use it. I do not change oil every 3000 miles. That's old school. Oils are far more advanced than that now. Just don't want to be on a trip when the thing says ' change your oil '. That's all.

God Bless.

I dont have an oil life monitor but i dont go past 3,000 miles on my oil. If i have my amsoil and amsoil filter I would do 15k with analysis.

To me I don't care how advanced the oils are or the different materials the engines are made out of. Oil and filter service costs me approx 55.00cad at my Ford dealer. To me that's cheap insurance. Just because the truck is under warranty I still don't want the dealer to have to put an engine in my truck. So long story short I change my oil every 5000km. Also the Eco are Aparently known for some fuel in the oil and that is hell on bearings

^x2 i work at a ford dealer so an oil change is 40 bucks for me...i get it done every 3k...cheap insurance

If running full synthetic I'd think the service manual suggestion of 10,000 miles is not too far off the mark, providing your not involved in "severe duty" use. I ride an air cooled motorcycle, use synthetic and used to change oil 2500-3000 miles, then I decided to send a sample to Blackstone Lab's. The anaysis showed I was wasting money, they suggested 7000 mile change intervals, and if "anal" change at 5K. Water cooled motors are not as hard on the oil as air cooled.

I change mine at 5,000 miles. I work 10 minutes from home so the short trips is hard on the oil. I know with direct injection some fuel gets in the oil. If you travel on the highway a lot I don't see why 7,000 miles is bad. But towing a lot and frequent short trips, I will stay with 5,000 interval changes.
