transmission tempts. while towing

What is a reasonable tempt. to reach while towing 4k trailer in the mountains? I've had 215 degrees uphill then back to 205 and lower going down hill. What tempt do you not want to exceed?

195 is normal when not towing.

When I tow my 8,500 trailer, I see around 205. 215 on a climb. Towed up to the Eisenhower Tunnel and never exceeded 215; but it was cold. I would want to stay under 240.

Change your tranny fluid every 30K if you tow a lot and tow heavy. I wouldn't consider 4K to be heavy.

I think you'd get a lot better response in the towing section.

I tow a 7, 000 Lb trailer and I see about the same some where around 200 on the flats and up around 212-215 on a long climb staying at the roads max speed limit. again if you tow a lot change the trans fluid about every 30 to 40K.

just got my XLT F150 with max tow and while towing a 6x12 trailer weighing about 3000lbs loaded I see temps on hot days never above 205

if it isn't going above 205 I wouldn't worry about that, if you tow a lot I would just change the transmission fluid every 30,000 miles or so. just a good maintenance idea.
