Default EcoBoostTurboTalk (ask your questions here)

I'm pretty new to the site but not new to turbos and turbo issues, and saw a couple of threads with what is thought to be turbo issues on the Ecoboosts, so I just wanted to offer my help to those in need, if I can't answer it anyone else is free to hop in and help with facts or issues, hope this helps

Also any discussions or debates on turbos or turbo tech or even supporting force inducting mods can go in here

You might try posting this in the 2011 + Engines sub forum. Lots more content about the EcoBoost there.

Default Questions regarding tuner, cold air intake & exhaust

Quick question. I have a 2012 F150 Eco boost. I am wanting to upgrade with a cold air intake like Bully Dog and a tuner. Is a cold air intake needed or would a high flow air filter obtain the same results? Would the exhaust with a free flowing muffler get the same results without changing the exhaust system? Will a tuner void the factory warranty. Thank you

Default will computer chip help mpg on ecoboost

I have a 2012 crew short box 4X4 on a 2200 mile trip got 10 mpg on the up hill section 3500 ft in 500 miles 20 on the down hill with 20 mph tail wind not what I expected not as good as what I traded off would do under same conditions. Over all 15 mpg for the trip. Does anyone have any experence with after market computer chips? will they help? My fuel bill went up about $150 a month so would pay for a chip if it would help. I just turned 10000 miles on odometer

I'm wondering why my ECO is getting the best fuel economy of any truck with the same motor? And I'm not kidding. I can go to LA from San Diego and record 27mpg for the trip. I can go from North San Diego County to the border at Chula Vista and record 27.5mpg. Two trips from San Diego to San Francisco and it shows over 22 when I get home.

What would happen with a tune? I'd like to do a Livernois tuner but I'm kind of worried about messing up the mpgs. What would happen?

Are you going by what the computer on the truck tells you or are you taking the odometer milage and dividing with fuel it took to fill it back up. when I got 10 both times the computer showed about 18 but first time took 32 gal fuel for 320 miles

I wonder. Are your turbos broken? So you would be running as a na 3.5l
