Default Shudder/Crumming MPG

Checking in from Canada. Finding myself not so in love with this truck lately.

I drive a 2014 EB supercrew. 3.73 with max tow. Has a Leer Canopy with stock size tires (although heavier Duratracs). Had the maintenace 3 service done at 55 thousand kilometers. No issues, however, I had asked them to look into a shudder that I have experienced half a dozen times in the last 10k kilometres.

From a stop, low speed acceleration, the truck shudders. Like a human would with a chill sort of thing. It's weird and it got me concerned.

Dealer hooks it up to a computer - we can't see anything, must not be a problem. End of story it seems. Doesn't seem like something a fairly new truck should be doing.

I drive super conservative. I rarely put foot to floor and yet I am struggling to get better than 15 liters per 100km (19mpg for you american folks).

Dealer says - well, actual mileage varies with tire size, driving habits, etc. That's all. Well no kidding it does. I recall that the advertised highway mileage was around 13l per 100 km highway. (21 mpg).

Any thoughts...ideas for mods that I can do to improve this truck? Feeling frustrated with it!

Google "launch shudder." This may be what you are experiencing.

Replace the spark plugs. 19mpg is pretty typical.

Ah, NO!!! This is a definite problem. Your experiencing the common Ecoboost misfire condition. Don't let it continue! You need new spark plugs gapped to .030 and then drill the 1/16" weep hole in the intercooler. This will evacuate the condensate buildup that is causing the misfire.

Bravo3eco I'm starting to experiance the same thing and was also told to drill a 1/16th hole in the CAC I only have 63k on my 2014 doesn't seem like much to already have to worry about plugs how ever I do have an 87 octane tune (5* tune with SCT).

Is this where a catch can setup would be beneficial?

Plugs only perform well for about twenty to thirty thousand miles in these turbo engines.

All ecoboost owners need to know they need to drill the 1/16" weep hole. They also needed to know that th spark plugs need changed very often. Had I known this plus all of the other ecoboost specific problems, I would have bought something else.

I have never experienced crumming MPG. Unless you have a crumb cake, which would have a lot of crumbs, I don't think you're going to have crumming MPG.

I agree with you 100% on this oneone, iI thithink it's ridiculous Ford hasn't corrected these issues since they developed this motor. Unless you're heavily tuned and modded you should NOT be going through plugs that quickly.
