just stumbled across this as i had the noise this morning and am in research mode. Pretty pissed because i thought i was avoiding the issue with oil changes every 5k and using mobil 1 5w30 full synthetic only. Seems following a shorter oil change interval is NOT the key.
Bought the truck new and have 85k miles now. It's been a glorified grocery getter due to transmission issues. I may have to trade it off, however i spent all of this $ initially to keep this thing until 150k. Would have thought it would make 100k without any major problems. Time to start getting quotes to repair, but probably the last new ford i'll ever buy.
