Low fuel pressure wot
Hey guys and gals I have a 2013 3.5 eb with 114k on it..the truck has been tuned for the past 20k of its life and about 8k ago it has been breaking up badly at wot or high load situations.
I have sent logs to torrie at unleashed and he said the rear fuel pressure is dropping badly. It goes from 2200psi down to 800psi and then the truck starts to break up bad.(I know I should have a vented block by now)it’s not tune related and torrie has been a huge help so no bashing please.
things I’ve done...
new oem plugs gapped to 26thou
replaced all pressure sensors including fuel pressure sensor.
replaced hpfp
replaced in tank pump with a 455lph walbro
checked cam lobe and follower

Checked timing chain tensioner(out 4clicks)
drilled weep hole in intercooler.
ran direct 12 volts to lpfp
ABSULTELY NO CEL’s
im leaning toward throttle body or fuel injector but the truck runs perfect during normal commute.. please help me

entirely possible the injectors are clogged after that many miles. A few years back I had a DI modified car and nobody had a good source for getting direct injectors cleaned like port injectors....that may have changed now?
I would've suggested plugs but sounds like that's covered, unless you have a bad coil, because under load that could be an issue.

Do you think a plugged injector would cause a drop in pressure? I did use a can of 3m injector cleaner a couple weeks before the issue started.I also forgot to mention that a friend had three coils that he let me borrow, I rotated them around trying to single out a coil but nothing changed..I’ve also never cleaned the TB.Thank you for the response

Injector cleaner doesn't do squat for direct injectors.
As for checking the coils, it's tough to do since this is only under heavy throttle. It'd be nice if you could plant on a dyno and disconnect 1 coil at a time to try and isolate.

did you have an actual fuel pressure issue or the common misfire? Lmk what you find cause I’ve all but given up on the truck. I’m convinced these ecoboost engines are a 100k throw away motor. Between the expensive services, needing plugs all the time, the weep hole in the intercooler that drips oil in my driveway, timing chain stretch, cam phasers going, and Rods coming out of the block I just don’t really see the advantage of this motor...5.0 gets the same mileage. And now I have an exhaust manifold leak they say is a 7 hour fix😡

Ford synthetic blend seems to be the leading cause of chain stretch around here.. I run amsoil and change it every 3k in fear of the chain streching. I’ve had so many issues at this point my 03 6.0 psd was cheaper to operate and I put 250k on that.

hmm haven' heard that one before. I'e got 70,500k miles and don' have timing chain stretch. As long as the motorcraft filter your good
