Default Just an exhaust idea

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the resonators job is to cut the "drone" out of the exhaust tone. And the muffler is to keep it quiet, that being said I was thinking of taking my truck to a local shop and have them weld in a strait pipe where my muffler is and leave the resonator alone. Has anyone done this before or anything similar? I looked up exhausts on YouTube and I'm worried that my little 2.7 will sound terrible because some of the 3.4 on YouTube sounded great, others I personally found to sound awful. Some of the trucks had a really loud turbo noise and not much motor sound (that's what I would like to go after). Am I doomed to have a v6 hornet sounding truck or is there a way to get a little more noise/flow out of it with out an awful tone?

When I had my 2012 F-150 EB, I removed the muffler and resonator and replaced it with a Flowmaster 70 series muffler. It wasn't too loud, but the interior drove was a little too much. I ended up installing an aftermarket resonator to tone it down. If you remove the muffler and leave the resonator on, you will have a horribly loud V6 sound. I would recommend an aftermarket performance muffler and keeping the resonator. Depending what you'd buy, you'll get more V6 sound, but not as loud as a straight pipe. The youtube videos are deceiving. I don't know of any exhaust system that will make the turbo sound louder and at the same time cancel out the V6 sound.
