Default Aftermarket Exhaust?

I have a 2015 F150, 3.5 EB and looking to get a little better performance and overall look. Not as concerned with increased sound as the ones I've heard still sound a little rice rockety. I've seen the corsa and roush cat back systems, with the roush being less money coupled with an intake and ECU flash.

Thougths? Suggestions?

Default Exhaust on 2015 3.5 ecoboost.

Hi, I didn't see a name/username. But first let me provide a little info on size of pipe. After discussing this with 2 gentleman, one at Summitt Racing and one a American Muscle. The consciences seems to be...one inch of pipe ( diameter) per 100 horsepower. I have a 2013 fx4 stock at 365 go. I can't imagine yours being that much different. You may even have more. But that's the rule of thumb sort of speak. Now I had installed a mbrp I believe that's the letters , 3" after cat with y pie into 2 20" cherry bomb glass packs into 2.5" back to rear exist. Beware, this sounded like a complete rice burner.!!! Went down the street had all tore out and straight piped. Still sounds like a rice burner. MY WHOLE POINT IS ( and I'm sorry this is so long) I know your anxious too get a new exhaust weather it's because of sound or preformance....DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!! I spent $ 1200.00 to only be back at square one. Also I also have a hesitation at higher speeds.

I have flowmasters 40 series on mine and like it. Its not a V8, but to me its all I need sound wise. Here are two clips. One is just start-up and the second is driving.

Just FYI, stock exhaust flows better than flowmaster mufflers.

Flowmaster mufflers are baffled. For best flow, you want perforated core straight-thru style mufflers like magnaflow or aeroturbine or vibrant.

Videos above actually sound good, and very tempting but after spending thousands on my 2012 eco downpipes and exhaust and never liking the sound I will just leave mine quiet lol.

Thank you for replying to my post. Your exhaust does sound better than mine as it doesn't sound like a rice burner. I didn't go with their muffler I went with 2. 3" ×20" cherry bomb glass packs. But sounded like a R.Burner. if you don't mind me asking....what size pipe, is it dual exit, cat back, resonator delete? These are all things I've done to no success. Like I said previously I wound up removing all of it and going straight pipe from cat back. I still think it sounds bad. I would come to to realization that it's the engine itself BUT....yours doesn't sound that way and others on u tube does not either. I am very interested in opinion and answers. Thanks again.

Why is it these 3.5 eco boost's cannot sound good? Please somebody enlighten me!! Is it not pressure ( exhaust) flowing through a darn metal pipe with some resonator to quiet them down ? ( now don't get me wrong I do understand it's a lot more complicated than that) BUT FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!!!!! can it really be that hard to alter sound??!! All I want for Christmas is for my newly purchased FORD ( And YES it's FIRST ON RACE DAY and don't let em tell you different!) F-150 sound meaner, throatier, more aggressive instead of sounding like a RICE BURNER! ( is that even politically correct?) I don't care this is AMERICA dammit!!! WHY, WHY, WHY somebody for the love of all that is good with FORD MOTOR CO. tell me why????
. Oh yea, I would also like my $ 1,250.00 back that I already dumped into my exhaust reaching for that elusive sound.

dajohu.
thank you for you response. I'm not quite sure how to reply directly to your post. So I hope you see this. I had a question about your down pipes hopefully without sounding like an idiot. What are their actual purpose do they act anything like headers? I've seen them quite frequently when looking for my exhaust but knowing I was already in the range of 500.00 to 750.00 I just saw the price of those and thought damn that's as much or more than an entire exhaust. So I always bypassed them .look forward to your comments

The pipes are 3 inch I believe, but I have to check again. The exhaust is only dual from the muffler back and yes, its a cat back exhaust. I did not have the resonator deleted.

These exhausts can definitely sound good, but it's never going to sound like a V8. It's a turbocharged V6. Optimize with at least 3" single piping and good mufflers/resonators. If you go with downpipes, get catted downpipes...they will sound better.

Not much exhaust sound 'tuning' with these versus other turbocharged V6's...take for example the Nissan GT-R. Listen to aftermarket exhaust systems on otherwise stock cars....
