Clogged Oil Filter
Hi everyone,
Just coming over to your forum Tacoma World. Had enough of the 2016 Tacoma 3.5 so traded it in for a 2013 3.5 EB. I decided to buy a used one since of course i got shafted on my trade in (as expected).
The f150 i bought has 30k on it, seems to be well taken care and really like the truck.
The BAD - I just changed the oil on it the next day after bringing it home because i suspected the dealer did not as the oil on the dipstick was really dark and when i crawled under the truck the pan and plug had no sign of fresh oil.
Here is what i found in the filter-
Let me Know what you guys think. Merry Christmas!

I would return that truck right away!! There is definitely an internal engine issue.
Make sure you look at the common ecoboost problems that they will all suffer. If you thought the Tacoma was bad, you got into something much worse.

If that stuff is rubbery?, I think someone has changed a gasket and have put too much gasket sealer on it. The excess gasket sealer is getting washed off and ending up in your oil filter. That's what I think but I could be wrong

If you bought it from a Ford dealer, I would definitely go back and at least have the issue documented. If that was sludge, I would have expected it to be darker, almost black. An extended warranty might be something to consider.

You say the dealer, was it a Ford dealer? Was it a motercraft filter? some cheaply made brand "X" filters are known to come apart, it appears to be bits of glue from the filter it self, The fact it was found in the filter and not in the engine I would keep an eye on it , use a quality filter and if it was a Ford dealer definitely take and have it documented.

I would not mess with it. Return truck or trade for another truck.

Thanks for all the input!
It was NOT a ford dealer unfortunately.
Yes its a rubber sealant type material and i too am thinking it might have been from the filter its self as i don't think any work has been performed the the truck.
I believe the truck is still under factory warranty until JAN-FEB so looking into the extended warranty.
