Default After Break in.

Is there a break in period on the EB and does milage improve after this period?
What has been your experience? My truck is a week old, so I'm curious.

I just traded my 2011 EB for a 2012. When I first got my 2011, I was disappointed with the MPG averaging about 15. After 3 or 4 thousand miles I was averaging 17 and I carry close to 800-1000 lbs of stuff in the back! So is there a break in period? I would say yes but I wouldn't drive it any different.

agreed. i traded a 2011 for a loaded 2012. I am only about 2000 miles on the ODO, but I have noticed the MPGS going up significantly

I'm in Canada so i'm working in L/100Km. So far I'm averaging around 15L / 100Km and can't seem to break away from it up or down. But my truck still has less then 2000Km on it... Hopefully i'll see it go down soon!

I have had My Ecoboost for 30,000 miles now I get close to what I was getting new. it got alittle better after I had it for a while. the biggest difference was how I drove it, If you take it easy I get 21.6 MPG to and from work 90 miles round trip, if I drive the speed limit all the time I get 22.8 to just over 23 MPG mostly freeway.

With only a couple hundred km on our V8 5.0 2012 we got 13.8L/100km on the way back from Seattle to Vancouver - almost all highway driving. I'll be delighted if it improves from there once broken in.

One thing with EB's they can get real good mileage but you have to take it easy. rule of thumb if you feel the Turbo's kicking in your not getting good gas, If takeing off from a light is putting a smile on your face your not getting good mileage. Just take it easy and use cruse controle alot
I have found the sweet is between 60 and 65MPH for good mileage.
If you set your cruse at 60mph or 100kph you will get good mileage.

I have a 2011. I saw a MPG increase around the 3500mi interval and again around the 7000mi interval. Getting ready to cross the 10,000mi Mark. My highway tanks are running between 18.5 & 20.25 mpg. My best tank thus far has been 20.25mpg with speeds ranging from 65 to 75 mph on the freeway. All numbers referenced are hand calculated.

Are you running regular gas? The whole time. I have 2012 Platinum 4x4 EcoBoost and I am only getting 13 to 14 MPG. I have 8,500 mi on it now been running premium gas in it the whole time. I don't drive a lot. My work is just 2 mi from home and I ideal the engine a lot. I did get 21 MPG heading from Houston to Dallas the other weekend driving 65 MPH. On the way back home I drove 70 to 75 MPH and got 18 MPG. I am just not getting the numbers everyone else posting. Please give me suggestions.
