3.5 Eco boost regret?

I miss sounding like a truck. No condensation build up no catch can I could put a winch in the front bumper or full bumper replacements grill guard. I'm not thrilled with the Ecoboost extra cost up front no better mpg and it's quiet.

Cycle For Fun and Health
Bought my 2012 almost two years ago. I will turn 56,000 miles this week and have no regrets at all. Lots of off road use and some towing and it excels at both as well as the 500 or so highway miles I put on it weekly. I have never had a half ton pickup with this much power and the cabin is very comfortable to boot. I would not hesitate to buy another ecoboost, in fact my wife might end up with a Taurus SHO ecoboost this year sometime.
My wife got one of the first ones out in November 2009. It's been a great car and no regrets.
Wish I could have that engine in my 2004 F150. Oh well, the old truck is still great with the 4.6L.

We will see. The problem is we probably won't have a chance to drive one before buying due to the small town we live in. The other thing I worry about is her driving. She tends to have a pedal, either pedal, on the floor at any given time so we go through a lot of tires and brakes as it is, haha. She is driving a 2010 Edge Limited now.

Like the power, mileage is worse than expected but I have 3.73's. Like the ride and doubt a 5.0 would have been enough for the towing I do. If they made a 6.2 available in an XLT I'd of looked at it.

I just traded my 2011 EB Screw, max tow, Lariat 4X4 with 85k miles for a 2014. I also ran a Lincoln MKT EB for 83k miles. I traded that for a really fast Audi SQ5. It's a lot of fun, but nothing compares to the low end torque of the 3.5. In our business, and travels, we run these trucks pretty hard. I had the cac issues with the truck for a while, but ford fixed it, and from what I've seen and heard, these problems have been fixed for good.
Before I lifted my truck, it got 20 mpg on the hwy. Afterwards, it was 16.5 city and 18.5 hwy. I will buy 3.5 EBs for as long as they make them. I've owned over 40 vehicles and a 3.5 EB is a solid motor.

My mistake, not lifted, I had a 2.5 in leveling kit and lost a 1.5 mpg. My new truck has a 6 inch lift on 35's, with a 3.55 gear. With 1,000 miles, I'm getting 15 city/17hwy. We drive a lot, with lots' of hwy miles. I'll keep you posted. We regularly drive 75- 80 on the hwy. I'm not sure that taking it easy is the best way to get good mileage on a 5700 lb truck. We don't dog it, but we're always out front.... or drafting..

Funny given all the haters and 3.5eco bashers that there isn't more folks chiming in on their displeasures over this engine. Maybe its only those who don't own a 3.5 eco who dislike them.
Not to turn this into an mpg thread but I average 16 mpg city and 21 highway. That's me...and who's to say that I would get better or worse with a 5.0 as it really depends on how I drive it.
There are sometimes I wish the "turbo-lag" wasn't there as I like instant power but overall I like the engine, it performs great and I have had it in temperatures between +36 and -40 degrees Celsius.
Its a 2013 and I have around 35k kms (22k miles) and so far so good...no regrets.
