I think the condensation problem that some have had maybe, due to the area or climate in those area where people have had that issue. I have owned my 2011 sense new in 2011 and have never had any issues with that I live in the pacific NW here in Washington. I tow a lot over the mountains here along with the Rockies, never an issue with water in the intercooler. I have only had to change out the spark plugs, and 1 Oxy sen.

I also had a cold-start, high idle miss (would disappear when the idle dropped to 1000 rpm) that had the service guys scratching their heads so I took it upon myself to run injector cleaner in the gas and the miss is gone. (Yes, I understand about using a product that won't cause carbon to break up and possiblly run through the turbos). Truck runs great now!
Next project will be to clean the intake valves (another DI problem) with a product containing P.E.A. that apparently lowers the temperature where the carbon will melt off the valves and vaporize rather than break off in pieces. Some systems use products made from jet fuel which burns very hot and can cause the carbon to flake off with the potential of doing damage. There are only a couple of products on the market that guarantee they will not harm the engine...one is new from Royal Purple. I talked to their Tech dept and they told me it is absolutely safe for turbocharged engines and guarantee it. Ford won't recommend either product but the dealer service depts have a product they will introduce through the intake for a price...probably the same stuff and not hard to DIY at about 1/10th the cost. I also have a competition grade, 16 ounce "catch can" to filter out most of the combustion byproducts that are re-introduced into the intake manifold through the PCV system and can cause coking on the valves in the Gen 1 3.5 Ecos. Lots of blow-by in the 3.5tt.

I became a FORD guy after my 2004 Lincoln Aviator, gave it to my son at 200,000 miles and bought a 2013 F-150 Lariat with the 3.5 Ecoboost engine. Well, let me tell you. DO NOT BUY THIS UNLESS YOU LIVE NEXT DOOR TO A DEALERSHIP. We have three Christmas trees that don't light up as often as my check engine light and be forewarned, if you have turbo problems (and you will after 50K), they have no way to fix it and their primary goal is to drag it out until your warranty is up. My typical day consists of driving like a grandmother on valium going to work in hopes that the overpressure condition doesn't cause catastrophic failure. I can't drive on the freeway out of fear of dying when you sporadically lose power when trying to get in front of a semi. They managed to get me past 100K so I have a great looking Yugo in the driveway with no way to stop the check engine light from preventing me to get out from under this piece of garbage. I so wanted to love this truck but it is a disaster. Search the internet for people who are disappointed instead of Ford sponsored message boards where critical posts magically disappear like this one will shortly.

My 3.5 ecoboost regret
Funny given all the haters and 3.5eco bashers that there isn't more folks chiming in on their displeasures over this engine. Maybe its only those who don't own a 3.5 eco who dislike them.
Not to turn this into an mpg thread but I average 16 mpg city and 21 highway. That's me...and who's to say that I would get better or worse with a 5.0 as it really depends on how I drive it.
There are sometimes I wish the "turbo-lag" wasn't there as I like instant power but overall I like the engine, it performs great and I have had it in temperatures between +36 and -40 degrees Celsius.
Its a 2013 and I have around 35k kms (22k miles) and so far so good...no regrets.

Ford says their ecorattle is "normal characteristic" and they won't fix it, and because of this I regret buying this F150 ecoboost.

I regret buying my 2013 F150 with the eco boost. I’ve had nothing but problems with it since day one. As a female who works on the road constantly, I don’t want or need the headaches that come with this engine. Every time I turn around this truck is costing me more money and more importantly, my time and effort trying to figure out what is wrong with the stupid thing. I’ve spent hours on this forum reading others who have the same problems with misfires due to the intercooler. Not only is the sluggish performance aggravating, it is also dangerous. More than once while trying to merge into interstate traffic, the eco boost basically says do what? when you put your foot in it. I see all of these complicated fixes online for the problems with this engine, like the basic consumer wants to screw around with all of that when what they really need is a truck that does what it is supposed to do. I’ve had this truck for roughly 6 months, and am going to trade it soon for something with an engine that doesn’t have a constant miss. I’m considering another Ford with a 5.0, but after this experience, I’m thinking of going back to driving a Chevy. The company should recall every single one of these trucks with the problem causing the buildup on the intake valves and fix them free of charge. I also have a 2000 model Ford F-150 that had a problem with water dripping directly onto the spark plugs from a leaking area on the hood area. Again, this was a common issue for the model year. I found a fix for that with some redneck engineering by simply adding what I call a gutter that diverts the dripping water away from the plugs and wires. Again, as a working woman, I don’t have time for this bs.
