Sounds like the F150 is cheap to repair. I had a Flex with only 8400 miles on it that was a total, would have cost $32K to repair it. Sounds like the t-bone didn't hurt the frame or it would have been a total.

With that being said, if the problems are related to the crash, and you were not at fault, I would hammer the other persons insurance company as they are also responsible to having the repairs done properly.

Default No regrets at all

I have an '11 EB scab with 3.73, hd payload, and max tow. It's got close to 103,000 on it, and I have put 20k on it since I have had it. All in all it is a beast when it pulls my 7500 lb camper. It gets around 8-10 mpg pulling, which I expect. Empty it gets around 18-19 mixed driving (mainly highway,) and if I grandpa it I can eek close to 20-21 on a trip.
Has only given me a few problems; left me stranded one time when fitting broke off of aftermarket coolant jug/air intake and I lost all coolant. Ditched that crap and went back to factory air intake system. And I'm getting some weird trans problems (oss sensor issues) which I have determined are coming from molded lead frame. Just waiting on spare cash to take to stealer ship. All in all I love the truck and that turbo whine!

I also have an '11 scab (FX4) with 3.73's. Bought it new. I recently retired and haven't put many miles on it yet. Was idling pretty rough, lost a couple of mpg and it seemed to drop from 6th to 5th earlier than it used to on hills so I took it to Ford (still under warranty). Dealer reflashed it. It was running worse than before so took it back. Mechanic rode with me and said the truck needed to re-learn my driving habits but he also said that there are plug issues with the EB. I continued to have issues with the idle, early downshifts and what seemed to act like turbo lag so I decided to change the plugs. Went with the Ford Irridiums gapped at .030 and that seems to have solved a lot of the issues. The old plugs had worn down to .045 gap in 30,000 miles with some carbon build-up on the bases. Took it out on the road for a 60 mile trip yesterday and averaged 19.3 up and down hills, a little wind and in moderate traffic at 70 mph. That's always been about as fast as I can drive it without the mileage starting to drop off with the 3.73's. It usually gets 20-22 mpg in relatively flat terrain so I'm happy with the 19.3 in the hills. Going to test the throttle response today...it's seemed to still have a rather noticeable lag in response. Maybe going back to Ford...I know the plugs are good. The truck never had any turbo lag off the line and only a little when kicking it down to pass. Some mistake the traction control limiting power off the line as turbo lag especially as the tires wear down and spin easier. We'll see.

Regarding the lag in throttle response....sounds like you have the latest ECM flash which does have a noticeable lag under certain conditions....so I would not pull out too much hair trying to find the root cause. It is more pronounced in the heat of the summer when running the AC as well. There is some truth to the tranny "learning" your driving style too. If you drive it like a granny the majority of the time, it will shift differently than if you drive it a bit more aggressively. It your idle has smoothed out and your fuel mileage is back, it sounds like you have found the problem with the worn out of spec plugs....

Ultimately, if you want to get rid of the throttle delay/lag, you may want to look at a tuner....

Thanks. Love the way they "fix" 'em. I have an appointment a week from now. I tested the truck again yesterday and the throttle response is quite poor. From a standing start it takes 2-3 seconds to get a serious response from the engine and the lag when on the downshift when trying to pass is kind of scary. I have looked at an SCT. I don't want their "93 tune" but I understand even the regular tune works wonders. BTW I do run 89 Octane, mileage is better that 87.

If you want the SCT X4, Stage 3 has them with custom tunes, and reviews look really good. They have 89 Eco tune and 89 Performance/Tow tunes,

Have you done the throttle adjustment procedure? It actually works, especially if you usually drive pretty mellow and it has learned that driving habit.

I have to say though after tuning with sct, 5 star I find I don't ever have to do this anymore

Sold my '13 EB last week. Loved it in so many ways. It had 55k miles on it. Possibly just a fluke...It went into limp mode once and I had some RPM drops at highway speeds.

Bought a new '15 Platinum today with the V8. I went back and forth a millions times. As much as I loved the EB and maybe one day I'll have another. It is so nice to hear the sound of that V8 again!

Thanks! For right now, I'm going to try the throttle calibration routine to see if it works for me. I am considering the tuner. Thanks much for the info!

I'm going to give the calibration a try. I haven't seen that before. I'm also considering a tuner. Thanks for the assist!
