The fear mongering is strong in this post!

just a quick question, why will the turbos need replacing at 100k, can someone please explain to me the background on that - if anything is going by 100k its the transmission

There has to be some 100k drivers out there and yes i know if this includes the 2011's then theres going to be nothing but bad things to say

Personally I would never buy a new production engine in its first year, ya Ford messed up but cmon, its its first year. I didn't want to touch a 2015, ya its hot but im worried about issues with the AL body in its first year, they will iron out any issues I am sure but ill look into it a couple down the road

Oh and lots of people complaining about MPG, ya the ecoboost sucks back the fuel, i never believed the hype of "Eco" but i love turbos so i didnt give a damn

but when your complaining about MPG can you please list your rear end gear ratio, some people have no idea that a 3.73 will GREATLY affect your mileage, but i wanted towing so i went 3.73

I have a motto, gas will never get back to the price it was a couple years ago, therefore your getting the cheapest gas you will for the next couple years so at whatever price GET IT WHILE ITS CHEAP!!!!

Just so you know, up here were paying some of the cheapest prices in Canada (Alberta) at $4.13/gallon

Thumbs down Eco boost problem!

I bought my 2011 F150 Eco Boost in Nov. that year. I drive a lot of long trips and it currently has 80,000 miles. The problem I have is the loss of power during quick accelerations at highway speeds after driving long distance in wet or moist weather. Ford has made all of the mods related to this problem, but still happens! I have replaced 3 ignition coils, which I believe is related to the same problem. I love the truck except for this problem, but probably won't buy another Ford because they won't/can't fix this problem!

I had to change the plugs after 60,000 miles. Pep boys did it for under $100. The plugs all by themselves would cost $50 so the $50 labor was well worth it.

A quick read in this thread and you can see that one should NEVER buy a used 2011 lol - I think we can all agree that ford shat the bed with the 2011...every time i see an angry post its usually a 2011 Eco

Cant blame em though, if my truck had those issues i would go elsewhere for sure, but don't hate on turbo charged engines in general, unless you want a growly sound ... to me i want boost/speed and could care less if my truck sounded cool (yes the v8's can go, but they sure make alot of noise doing it which to me makes me chuckle, personal preferences though)

Default Great truck

Bought my fx4 13' eco brand new , has 38,000k and no problems, was extremely iffy on buying it after hearing horror stories of these engines, but haters goona hate, raced a few trucks and won, just dont think they like a v6 beating a v8. Fuel mileage is alright, but I bought it for being a truck, whose goona remember buying a truck for fuel mileage but for how much power and good looks it has. Oh and another thing the turbo whistle is nice and loud !

Thumbs up No Regrets

Love me some 3.5L Eco Boost!

Bought my 2013 just over a year ago, close to 23k miles on it now. Love the way it rides, tows, and performs. I have all the power I need and would never consider going back to a V-8. I am consistently getting around 21MPG even around town which is in the upper range of advertised MPG (16-22)

Just completed a 2000+ mile road trip towing 4500 lb trailer. Towed like a dream, no power issues, no sway, no problems of any kind.

The only reason I might consider getting rid of my unit would be to maybe buy another one!

2011 ecoboost S-Crew 2wd 3.55 rear, 50,000 miles.
Also 2009 5.4L S-Crew 4wd 3.55 rear, 80,000 miles

Still love both trucks. The ecoboost is faster and gets 18-19MPG. The 5.4 is smoother, but far slower and gets 14.5 mpg lifetime avg. The absolute best the V8 does is 16MPG on a highway trip with premium gas. But that goes away the instant it heads into town.

Yes, my EB has the same "misfire" issues when it's wet out. I do think it's condensation in the intercooler. A small drain that opens occasionaly would probably fix the problem.

Even with the 5.4's "tune" it's far down on power.

Need to check and clean out your intercooler and install a catch can. Your one of the few lucky ones that Ford hasn't been able to fix. My buddy is another.

Unhappy 2014 F150 FX4 Crew Cab, EcoBoost

Bought my truck in January. The truck hesitates when accelerating from a stop. I looked into it and was told this is normal for a turbo-charged engine. (I have never owned a vehicle with a turbo-charger.) I'm thinking I should have gotten the V-8. I absolutely love everything else about the vehicle. I have never owned a truck that rode as smooth or as quietly as this one. Also, I don't think they could have found a worst place to locate the oil filter and the Sony sterio is a little anemic.
