I have a 2017 SuperCrew with 3.5 EB Gen 2 with 32K and it a beast!! If I am on a wet road, I have to use 4A or it will break the tires loose. The only issue is that I had to have the TSB done on the 10 Speed, but it all good now.

My experience has been pretty much inline with everyone on this thread. I've got 31K on my '18 and in a little over 12 mos no issues whatsoever. Been changing the oil every 10K with high end synthetic and matching oil filter. I do a bit of everything with it: haul a 3horse trailer loaded typically, 4x4 a bit and run up and down the freeway. I've yet to ask it to do anything it hasn't easily accomplished. Spoiled!

up to almost 35k and no issues. Auto stop/start 'battery monitor' throwing a code, but the motor is great. Stock so far (aside from upgraded intercooler)

On order I have a second truck coming, 2018 Lariat 3.5EB Gen 2..

I have a friend who is a ford regional district service manager in my area. He told me that many of the previous major problems with the Gen 1 EB has been addressed in the Gen 2 (ie. intercooler, timing chain and tensioner, wastegate etc)... From what he has seen sofar in the '17s has been very positive.... the feedback he has from his mechanics are also positive on this engine...

I would have ordered another 5.0 Coyote if it wasn't for his feedback...

So im interested on the feedback from current 2017+ 3.5 EB owners.... any issues with the engine sofar? how about the 10 speed? how do you like the drivability and performance?

Thanks in advance!!
Ford has done nothing to help with the intercooler, it's still a piece of junk. Do any towing or drag racing and the stock CAC heat soaks rapidly. The first gen CAC would get moisture in it and this caused issues. Ford in their great wisdom made the CAC smaller so that it would run hotter. This helped keep the moisture out but makes them heat soak even faster. My Wagner CAC is nearly twice the size of the stock POS

Wagner vs stock CAC

I also upgraded my intercooler. Absolutely one of the best upgrades you can do...…..but most folks won't because there's not "power" to be had and butt-dyno to report. But if you watch and compare the data, aftermarket ICs run so much cooler.

Default Love it over my Gen 1, VCT went at 19k

I love the truck all the way around. It did feel not quit there since I have had it new 2019 Lariat Special Edition. The cam phaser VCT issue showed it’s ugly head. I have to say I’m glad it did. Other than the truck being down for 3 weeks they did a great job. The VCT is in back order. They replaced all four cam VCTs with apparently a newer upgraded version. But I believe the biggest difference is the upgraded Engine control module software and tranny. The truck is a different beast. Smooth and feels like it pulls harder. It’s like I got another new truck.
