2017 10 Speed
 

Not sure if this is an issue but here it is.
2017 3.5 EB.
Tried this three times and the same thing happened.
When in Sport mode and hit the gas hard between 15-20 mph, here's what happens. When I lift the pedal it stays in that last gear for quite a while before it up shifts slowing the truck down considerably. Seems weird. Seems like it should up shift. Am I wrong?

Do you have the gear limiting function active? Press the + twice and try again.

Not sure what that is or how I would have activated it.
Are you saying that when I put it in S to hit the + a couple times to deactivate?

I believe this is normal.... This happens on my 15' 6sp Coyote and Mercedes GLK350... programming wants to hold the gear and delay the upshift.


I also noticed this same on many rental cars that I have abused through the years :thumbup: LOL

I noticed this on my '18 3.5eco in Sport mode as well. It stayed in 4th or 5th at about 3K rpm, and didn't upshift to drop rpm - I didn't push the engine past that point, just started to slowly decelerate...after a few seconds, it eventually did upshift, then i switched back to Normal drive mode.

You can turn on your gear display by hitting + and it should show all 10 speeds. Then, put it in Sport mode and do your experiment, watching the gear display. You'll see if punching it results in a downshift, upshift, or no shift.

You can lock out gears by then hitting the minus and watch each gear disappear starting from 10 down.

In sport mode it is gear-holding like a manual transmission would. Normal operation, I think.

Although not directly related to what has been discussed above, I just took delivery of a 2018 3.5 EB with the 10 speed.
It's a terrifically smooth transmission, and I am really impressed by how it handles all 10 gears. It doesn't seem to hunt, shifts quickly and seamlessly and keeps RPMs low!
Yesterday I took it off road (nothing serious, just travelling a few miles of dirt trail through a pasture in the hills). The terrain was mostly gently rolling, but with a few steep hills to climb (the kind of thing where you would spin a little in 2WD unless you took a real run at it).
I had the gear indicator on, so I could watch how the transmission was behaving. On a couple of steep hills it was slow to downshift, and then would make a downshift from 3 to 1, which seemed to be a bit hard, and a bit late. I tried it in sport mode then, and the transmission then made much more use of 2nd gear, and on the remaining few steep hills would quickly shift down from 3 to 2, instead of waiting to make a 3 to 1 downshift. With sport mode and 4WD we could just walk up hills at low speed and everything was so smooth. I'm totally impressed.

Sure do like the 10 speed especially while towing.
