This is my first post, and I thought that telling you about my problems (and solutions) might help.

I have a 2012 SCREW Lariat 2WD. At 14000 miles, I started to feel a loss of power when leaving a red light. It was very scary having the gas pedal floored and I was coasting for a few seconds.... Then the orange wrench pops up on my screen and I enter limp home mode. Here are some YouTube videos of what I was experiencing. The odometer and speedometer went totally blank... And gears 1,2 and 6 would not work.

I was also experiencing a "thud" like I had hit something when I was backing up...

So I brought it in to my local dealership and this is what they did to fix it.

"CALLED THE HOTLINE AND THEY SAID TO REPLACE THE LEAD FRAME IN THE TRANS, REMOVE THE VALVE BODY DISSEMBLE AND REPLACE THE LEAD FRAME REASSY AND REINSTALL. "

The service guy also said they found a bent pin somewhere on a sensor and that some metal shavings could have interfering with a sensor.

It shows the following parts that were added/replaced

"1 CONNECTOR $173.29 (AL3Z*7G276*A)
1 KIT-DRIVE SHAFT $11.90
8 OIL - AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION $54.56"

It's been 4 days since I got the truck back and no problems. Fairway Ford in Greenville, SC did the repairs under warranty. Nice Folks.

WOW glad to hear you didn't get in a wreck, and that ford fixed the problem. hope you don't have any more good luck Thanks for letting the rest of us know so if we have this happen to us we know whats happening.

I just had this exact same repair made on my 2011 FX4 Eco. I was getting some screwy actions out of the tranny like downshifting to 5th on the highway for no reason and not up shifting back to 6th, sometimes no shifting from 1st gear. The speedo and mpg meter would also quit working. Sometimes the tranny wouldn't know which gear to start in or shift to. I could shut the truck off and restart it and it would be fine.

The dealer just replaced the same part as the OP, 50 miles later, so far, so good. I'll update here in a month or so to see if it's still working right.

Thanks for starting the thread. I thought mine was the only one doing this crap.

So far so good... No more shifting problems or "thudd" when I put it in reverse. I do think that I have lost a little horsepower... Gas mileage is right at 17 in the city... Which is expected.

Over the weekend I experienced the same thing at a stop light while trying to go.. within 10 minutes it happened 3 times. Scan tool said "solenoid failure" I too have just over 14k miles.

I drove it in manual mode all the way to ford..and the guy told me the samething.. they're going to replace the lead frame connector in the transmission per a TSB with ford.

2013 F150 Transmission

I have a new 2013 F150 ecoboost 4x4 with about 6,500 miles on it. At about 2,000 miles I started noticing a loud knock when putting it into reverse. It seems to be getting worse, and I am guessing I am going to see the same thing as the others above.

I took it into the dealership to have them look at it, but they were "not authorized by Ford" to make the repair as they could not replicate the problem. Note: it only seems to do it when it is cold. It almost always does it in the morning, but rarely in the afternoon or after it has been driven for a bit.

I have also noticed some jerking on a couple of different occassions as well. It seems the jerking was limited to pulling out of a parking lot though.

Will monitor it and update post as things develop.

Same exact problem here damn. 2012 Lariat SCrew with 13k. They did a computer update but it continued. Think in gonna bring it back and tell them to try this.

The clicking scares me. I'm waiting for the driveshaft to spin out and go bouncing down the road.

My 2012 started having episodes where it wouldn't shift out of 1st gear. The first few times it did this I was able to go into manual shifting and shift that way and then go back to automatic and it worked. Recently I had a time where when pulling away from a stop sign, it started to go and then nothing. The engine would rev but it was like being in neutral. I tried shifting to neutral and then back to drive a couple times. Then tried it in manual mode, still nothing. Finally the transmission grabbed and I was able to continue on my way.
Dealer looked it over and of course it didn't do it while there. I had a better chance of winning the lottery than it doing it for them. They did send what I described to Ford and called me later indicating that Ford has directed them to replace the molded lead frame. Hopefully that is the cause. Thankfully I wasn't pulling through an intersection that had traffic coming at me when this happened.
I have had the intercooler replaced, the heater core replaced due to leak, and now this but I still love the truck. I have nearly 38k miles on it.

Same problem today with 7100 miles on 2013 Platinum. Pulled from stop sign loud clunck and stuck in 5th gear with wrench indicator. Was close to dealer and limped in. Ordering parts should get back tomorrow.
