I'm looking for new tires and possibly new wheels for this 89 pickup that I recently purchased. The truck is Wimbledon white with the red "FORD" on the tailgate, so I really like these plain wheels, but I was told I need them to be 15x6.5 if I want to put 33" tires on them. Can anyone tell me what, exactly, these wheels are called? Are they just stamped steel wheels? Stock wheels?
Those wheels are too narrow for pretty much any 33" tire.
As far as 6.5" wide wheels, you'd need to run pretty narrow 33" tires, and I don't think they even make 'em that narrow
What width tires are you gonna get? If you're gonna go with 12.5's, you'll wanna run wheels that are 9-10" wide
I've seen some people run 8" wide wheels with 33x12.50's, but you risk arcing the tire up in the middle, causing uneven and premature tire wear
Those wheels will not get you where you want to be. If you want a 33” tire on a 15” wheel, then you’ll have to go to a 33x10” tire that demands at least a 7” wide wheel. A 9” wide wheel would probably be better.
