wont go over 25mph then dies
1996 f250 5.8 standard transmission. it seems to run fine in reverse but in forward it will run to about 25 then bogs down so much that it dies. i have changed the fuel filter, egr, idle air control valve. any ideas what else i need to change to fix this problem?

Is it 25 mph or a certain RPM? You can probably do 25 in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd easily. Might actually be an engine speed or airflow problem, not a speed problem.
Does it hit "25" then bog and die immediately? Or can you drop down to "20" and keep it going?
Why did you change those parts and did any of the changes have any effect? Have you changed the air filter and/or cleaned the MAF?

We need to see all the truck's details (of which "standard" is not one) & history in your signature:

reasons why
First the truck sat for about 4 years. it had been started and drove maybe 10 times in that period be mostly for only 10 miles at a time. So I replaced and did oil change, cap wires plugs and roter, egr and egr pipe(because the pipe broke during removal), idle air valve, air filter, fuel filter, battery and terminals, solenoid. It bogs down so hard at about 25 but it is not the speed because if i drive it for about 50 yards the stop then try to take off again it will bog so bad that I either have to put it in reverse and return to my yard (50 yards back) or have to turn it off a let it sit for a minute or so then start it and drive either in forward or 50 yards or into revers to the house (wish it appears to do fine). it is forward that makes it act strange, (I guess). Yes it will initially take off in 1st or 2nd but it does seem to act the same way. I have not tried the cat converter or fuel pressure. I don't have and odb1 to check readings off of it, I only have an odb2, which won't connect.

If you're not going to fill in your signature, you're making it difficult for us to help. As this thread progresses, we won't necessarily remember that you posted any description, or where.
For each part, we need to know WHY (what symptom made you suspect it, & what test it failed), when (time or miles), by whom, and with what (brand, PN, & source) it was replaced. Also - did the replacement pass the same test the original failed?
Battery terminals are the cause of more problems than you'd believe. Click this & read all the captions:

You don't need any scantool to read EEC-IV codes:

Ford never used the OBD-I protocol - that was a short-lived GM system.
