well the 4.9l wont have that good of a tone. i had a glasspack on my truck then i just took the glasspack off and put a straight pipe on. idle it will sound like a v8. you can get a high flow cat that will bolt up to your headers for like 250$ on summit racing.com. people have put flowmaster 40's on and it sounds good i hear. and yes it is illegal to gut the cat.(basically taking cat off) and in Delaware you might have to worry about emissions check if you have them in that state

Mine was rusted out when I bought the truck so I ripped it off right behind the cat. Left the original exhaust from cat forward. Opened it up to a 2.5" from the stock 2.25" pipe and dumped it out the side in front of the rear tire. That made it a little cheaper and easier at the same time. The muffler you want to go with 2.5" flowmaster or something similar and (if it sounds like mine and we agree on what sounds decent) you'll probably be happy

On mine I just cut it right where the cab meets the bed, I like the way it sounds, not a V8 but it sounds preeety good.
