I too hate playing that new car 'gotta keep it scratch free' game. Life is too short. Like you say, being thankful for the REAL stuff in your life is what it's all about.

In the weirdest way I feel better with a car with a few dings and dents because you NEVER have to worry about dinging or denting it somemore! Its just adds to the look/character.

On a new vehicle its like driving something make out of crystal -- you gotta be so careful to the point of stressing yourself.

Because it's paid for,It's a real truck plus I like the looks of it. It is actually my son's truck but i help him work on it. it's simple to work on,customize, ect. did I mention its paid for. some of his friends at school have vehicles that mommy and daddy have bought them and they know absolutely nothing about them. They just put in gas and go. has 1 friend that daddy runs a car lot bought him a 2005 chevy 4x4 he had a flat one day, didn't even know how to change it. my son thought that WAS funny. I'm trying to teach my son the pleasures of building/working on something this way you know what you have and will take care of it. Hopefully.

That's awesome! You don't see that time honored tradition happen much anymore. We haven't got kids yet, but that's sorta what I'm doin with my fiance', practice for when I do have a son/daughter to teach the same things to. You rock!

Cheap to buy, cheap to insure, cheap to keep on the road, etc.
