Just reread your post about the neg cable being attached near the radiator and unknown as to where to attach the other end. Swing the cable towards the engine, is there a bolt of same size as terminal nearby? Seen to remember the alternator mounting bolt being longer and the cable held in place by a large nut.

I pulled the plug and set #1 at tdc. I replaced the plugs and plug wires. I also replaced the relay switch for the fuel pump. Guess what? It started. runs rough but i believe i put the spark plug wires on in revers of firing order so i will switch them and see how it runs. That old ford kicked so much smoke out of the exhaust pipe I almost had an orgasm...it sounds like a beast, but has a real bad miss so I will continue to chase the problem to what i can relate it to...the information posted in my thread was extremely useful and there is a ground from the firewall to the intake but it was linked to the hood as well and that was left disconnected (not sure why) so I reconnected it to the hood and she starts find and tries to hold out at about 1000 rpm which it idles in between 700-1000 rpm so i guess its ok no vacuum leaks or anything. There was an intake leak but a quick gasket change fixed that. Thanks for your information and your time. -Nathan
